They are organizations that operate exclusively for social welfare, civic improvement, pleasure, recreation, or other reasons that are not profit based.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/revenue-agency\/services\/charities-giving\/giving-charity-information-donors\/about-registered-charities\/what-difference-between-a-registered-charity-a-non-profit-organization.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Learn the difference between a registered non-profit and a charity<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How to know if your library, board, or friends\u2019 group is a registered non-profit&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You should have a registration number, or your board or friends\u2019 group will have a number.
