Parkland Regional Library System (PRLS) is thrilled to announce they have selected a winner of the library card contest that ran the month of July.
We received over 100 submissions from throughout the region, with entrants of all ages. The advocacy committee voted on the anonymized submissions in several rounds down to five finalists, ranked on number of votes, and selected the winning cards. The first prize winner is Sophia, age 14, from Innisfail, and the runner up is Arielle, age 14, from Rocky Mountain House.
When asked about what inspired her submission, Sophia said: “Inspiration can come from many places; this piece was motivated most of all by my appreciation for my local library in Innisfail and the adventures we find ourselves in when we open a book.” For her, “the library is a place of connection. . . I’m sure many in our community would agree that our library provides many wonderful experiences due to the thoughtful programming and staff.”
Cards with these new designs will be sent to all Parkland libraries in time for Canadian Library Month in October.
