Training and Workshops for Library Staff

Parkland’s Library Services department can assist Library Managers with any questions you may have about the AB Libraries Act & Regulations, library best practices, day-to-day operations, Polaris, management and administration, social media and marketing, library programming, technology and eResources, and more! We offer orientation for new library managers, and training and workshops throughout the year for library staff and volunteers. We also offer training for Library Board members on request. If you have any new Library Board members and would like a Board package for them (these include copies of the Alberta Library Trustee’s Association handbook, the AB Libraries Act & Regs, and information about the AB Operating Grant) please contact your PRLS Consultant or email libraryservices@prl.ab.ca and we can put some in your van run for you. Please contact your PRLS Consultant Librarian so they can assist you in setting up a one-on-one or group training on topics of importance/interest.

Parkland hosts a free Conference annually that also serves as a valuable professional development opportunity for library staff and Board members. The next PRLS Conference is happening on Monday, September 23rd at the Lacombe Memorial Centre. Conference registration will be opening this summer – stay tuned for more details!
