3. CELA User Group meeting on Training and Accessibility Thursday, April 29 1:00pm EDT
Join us for this CELA User Group meeting on staff training and accessibility! Staff who are familiar with services for people with disabilities will create a welcoming and inclusive environment for all users. The session will begin with a short introduction from Winona McMorrow, Senior Services Specialist with Accessibility Services at Toronto Public Library and Tara Thompson at Okanagan Regional Library on accessibility training at their libraries.
The rest of the session gives libraries the opportunity to share their own experiences and best practices in the areas of staff training with accessibility in mind. Some questions participants might want to consider or address:
-How to include accessibility in your staff training?
-How often should we provide training – ongoing or in a single session?
-Do you set training goals relating to accessibility?
-Have you encountered any barriers in staff training and how you were able to overcome them?
-Do you have any specific challenges or learning opportunities in this pandemic year?
