Nominations for the
Minister’s Awards for Public Library Service are open! These awards aim to
“designate public libraries that house innovative programs, services or
technologies as centres of excellence.” If you applied for a 2019 award, you do
not need to resubmit your nomination. Your application will automatically be
considered for the 2020 awards. (No winners were selected in 2019 due to the
timing of the Provincial election.)
The awards will be presented at the Alberta Library Conference in Jasper,
April 23-26. Due to fiscal restraint, winners’ travel to or accommodation
at Jasper will not be reimbursed by Public Library Services Branch this
year. However, they have reserved some rooms with the organizers if your
library wins an award and you need accommodation. There will be no “You
Libraries” award this year.
The deadline for nominations is Friday March 13 at 4:30pm.
You can find more information about the awards on the Minister’s Awards for Public Library Service Nomination web page.
If you have questions about your application/nomination, please contact Jen Anderson at jen.anderson@gov.ab.ca and/or karen.petch@gov.ab.ca.
