Non-profit Organization
All libraries are non-profits under the Alberta Library Act; however, not all libraries are registered non-profits.
Registered non-profits are registered with the government; they are not charities. They are organizations that operate exclusively for social welfare, civic improvement, pleasure, recreation, or other reasons that are not profit based.

You should have a registration number, or your board or friends’ group will have a number. Parkland Regional Library System has a list of some registered non-profits and registered charities in our system; please contact us if you have any questions.
