Since the inception of Windows 10, Microsoft has released 11 major versions, normally referred to as “Feature Updates”. Over time the older versions are no longer supported by Microsoft. Every couple of years, Parkland IT must update Windows 10 on staff computers. Over the month of August, we will be rolling out a new feature update referred to version 21H1.
Due to the nature of this update, we cannot predict when staff computers will start receiving the update but it will occur in the background. When the update is complete you will be prompted to restart your computer, which could take anywhere between 20-40 minutes. Please do not ignore this restart prompt. We cannot control when the computer restarts if you ignore this warning. It is best to save and close your work and allow the computer to restart when you see the warning. After the update is complete, you can resume using your staff computer.
