2019 New Kits

Magic of Coding (Ages 8+): this is a kit for children ages 8 and up containing 10 tablets and 10 coding wands. The Kano coding app introduces basic coding through the magical world of Harry Potter.

Large Print Book Club (Adult): Three large print book club kits have been created. Each includes 10 copies of a book in varying accessible formats; Large Print, Audio book CD, and DAISY Reader disks.
Available titles are:
– Canadian Red by R.W Stone
– Kingdom of the Blind by Louise Penny
– The Lost Girls of Paris by Pam Jenoff

Imagine It – Art (Ages 8+):  This teen makerspace kit includes two digital drawing tablets with two laptops as well as spirographs, zine/comic book templates, four google cardboards, and learning resources.

Imagine It – Circuitry (Ages 8+): This teen makerspace kit includes littlebits, makey makeys, learning resources, and a classroom set of snap circuits.

Cricut Cutter: This piece of equipment can be used for programming or for fundraising initiatives. This kit includes consumables that libraries may be charged for, if they use them

Jewelry Making Kit (Adult): this is our first adult programming kit but it could be used for younger age groups. It includes all the tools needed to create amazing beadwork. Please be aware that this kit does not include consumables such as beads, wires, and string.

Other programming opportunities

Red Hot Science: RDC has inquired about partnering with Parkland Libraries. They would like to come to member libraries and host science-based programs. A schedule is being created where RDC will visit 2 libraries a month (from November until April and once in May and June).
