Canada’s first “one nation, one book” program starts June 3rd

The One eRead Canada/Un livrel Canada program is quickly approaching! Parkland Regional Library has signed up on behalf of our system, and we encourage all libraries to participate.

To aid you in program planning and delivery, CULC (Canadian Urban Libraries Council) has provided promotional materials, including a sample press release and social media posts, logo images, and communication ideas. More information about the program is available via the website http://www.culc.ca/advocacy/eReadCanada/.

The program is similar to “one book, one city” programs, but on a national scale and focusing on digital format. It will run for four weeks, from June 3 to June 30. The book selection for this inaugural program is Glass Beads by Dawn Dumont, published by Thistledown Press. Within Parkland, there are 4 print copies plus the eBook via CloudLibrary and Read Alberta eBooks. Starting June 3rd, the book will be simultaneously available on RBDigital and CloudLibrary to any patrons who wish to read it. We will report circulation statistics for both print and digital copies to CULC, who will use the nationally gathered data to demonstrate the importance of libraries on book circulation and sales.
